Four areas, with battery materials at the center.
CASU works across high-end chemicals, specialty adhesives, battery materials and high-performance bio-based materials, with a focus on water-based cathode and anode binder systems for power and energy-storage batteries. All four share one way of working: from material interfaces and formulation design to process fit and application evaluation.

Water-based cathode and anode binder systems for power and energy-storage batteries.
A binder system determines whether a slurry stays stable, a coating forms evenly, and an electrode adheres firmly and stays intact through cycling. CASU treats cathodes and anodes separately — material stability in water and the aluminium interface on the cathode side; distinct graphite and silicon routes on the anode side — and extends the work to separator coatings and interface materials. Every formulation is evaluated under actual mixing, coating, drying and calendering conditions.
Problems we solve
- 01Keeping slurry stability and copper adhesion on graphite anodes while lowering binder dosage.
- 02Volume change, interface stability and thickness growth in silicon-containing anodes.
- 03pH, the aluminium interface and residual water when LFP and other cathodes move from NMP to water.
- 04Balancing adhesion, thermal shrinkage and permeability in ceramic separator coatings.

High-end chemicals
Key raw materials and functional additives for material development and manufacturing.
Stable advanced materials often start with stable raw materials. CASU sources key chemicals, raw materials and functional additives covering dispersion, wetting, rheology, defoaming and film formation, supporting material development, quality control, reliable supply and application fit — so chemical choices match downstream formulation and process requirements from the start.
Problems we solve
- 01Particle dispersion and long-term storage stability in high-solids systems.
- 02Wetting, defoaming and defect control in coating and levelling.
- 03Batch consistency and reliable supply to reduce formulation drift.
- 04Equivalence testing and risk assessment when switching raw materials.
Technical focus
Typical applications
- Battery slurries & separator coatings
- Waterborne coatings & inks
- Adhesives & sealants
- Industrial formulations & surface treatment
What we deliver
- Additive selection and blend advice
- Comparative evaluation for raw-material switches
- Supply and quality coordination
03
Specialty adhesives
Bonds that hold, last and can be manufactured — across different materials.
Bonding succeeds or fails at the interface. Substrate surface, service environment and processing method together decide the right adhesive. CASU works with waterborne polyurethane, acrylic systems and composite interface design, balancing bond strength, film formation, water and heat resistance and the processing window, with selection and evaluation tailored to each application.
Problems we solve
- 01Wetting and adhesion on low-surface-energy or porous substrates.
- 02Long-term bond retention under humidity, heat, solvents and ageing.
- 03Balancing coating speed, drying capacity and open time.
- 04Benchmarking performance when moving from solvent-borne to waterborne systems.
Technical focus
Typical applications
- Synthetic leather & textile lamination
- Industrial laminates & composites
- Battery-pack structural bonding & lightweighting
- Industrial coating & surface treatment
What we deliver
- System selection and formulation advice
- Process window and coating parameters
- Durability evaluation plans

High-performance bio-based materials
Bio-based polymers, engineered for battery and industrial use.
Cellulose-derived CMC is already a mainstream anode binder component, and natural polysaccharides such as alginate are widely studied for silicon anodes. CASU focuses on bio-based polymers for battery and industrial uses — their role in binding, dispersion and film formation, and how they match substrates and processing conditions. We evaluate “bio-based” (where a material comes from) separately from end-of-life and carbon attributes, with the matching tests and certifications. PHA paper packaging is handled by BIOTEN, a DBC Group brand.
Problems we solve
- 01Dispersion, viscosity and storage stability of bio-based components in water.
- 02Water resistance and mechanical balance in bio-based binding and film systems.
- 03Benchmarking when bio-based feedstocks replace part of a fossil-based system.
- 04Evidence management for bio-based content and sustainability claims.
Technical focus
Typical applications
- Battery binding & dispersion
- Bio-based polyurethane adhesives
- Waterborne coatings & films
- Functional additives
What we deliver
- Material route assessment
- Benchmark evaluation plans
- Claims and evidence checklist
